Mercedes-Benz reportedly a runner for title sponsor for League of Legends World Championships

According to a couple of reports from Chinese media outlets, Mercedes-Benz could be a title sponsor for this year's League of Legends World Championship.

The reports mention that Mercedes-Benz, L'Oreal Men Expert, Logitech G, Intel, and Chinese dairy company Yili are all negotiating to be title sponsors for the major event. Although Mercedes-Benz told Dot Esports that its Chinese division is in talks with Riot Games China about potentially sponsoring the event, Riot Games reportedly said the talks centered solely on sponsoring China's League of Legends professional league.

The World Championships is set to eclipse those of previous years in League of Legends with the new play-in stage to allow lesser known regions to have a shot at the group stage. Prize pools will be aided by a bit of crowd funding similarly to Worlds last year and this year's Mid-Season Invitational. With players like Mercedes-Benz vying for title sponsorship for the event, Worlds will be a spectacle unlike anything we've seen before.
