Stage 1 Runners-up, New York Excelsior have announced their Contenders Roster, fittingly named, XL2 Academy.

The roster is headlined by former Rise Nation flex-tank, Mike "Midnight" Ryan, and Lunatic-Hai DPS, Jeong "Nenne" Yeon-kwan. Both players have demonstrated incredibly high skill caps mechanically and will be the main carries on this new squad. The team will be rounded out with veteran leadership from Liam "Mangachu" Campbell and Adam "Adam" Eckel, while adding rising talent from James "Cloneman" D'arcangelo and Anthony "Goliath" Pietro. Cloneman is best known for his high competitive ladder placement and his main tank role on the relatively successful Rockets Esports roster. Goliath is best known for his time on Evil Geniuses, while also taking first place at the Overwatch Heroes Rumble 2017 on Team Sun With Face Clap alongside Mangachu.

A notable absence from the team is Overwatch World Cup breakout star, Hwang "Flow3r" Yeon-oh, who had been previously announced as a part of this team. While no longer playing on the Contenders team, there is little doubt Flow3r will remain with the NYXL organization, likely to debut when he becomes of age onto the main OWL Roster.

We will keep you up-to-date with the latest in Contenders news.
