Qualification details announced for DreamHack Open Winter 2017

DreamHack are currently focusing all efforts on ensuring the smooth running of Denver, however the organiser recently announced details on how interested parties can participate at the final stop of the ASTRO Open this winter. Hosted once again at the iconic Elmia Convention Centre in Jönköping, Sweden, DreamHack Winter 2017 is the final stop of the ASTRO Open circuit in 2017. Eight teams will duke it out for a $100,000 prize pool.

Of the eight teams six will receive direct invites, whilst two contestants will be admitted via a European and North American qualifier. Aforementioned qualifier will consist of an open and closed stage. Two teams that manage to top the closed regional qualifiers will receive a spot at the LAN finals in Jönköping in addition to paid travel and accommodation expenses (for five players and a coach/manager) provided by the organisers.

Below are details regarding the qualifiers:

European Qualifier

Open - Nov. 11

  • Maximum of 512 participating teams
  • Team check-in starts at 14:00 CET, matches commence 15:00 CET
  • Top eight teams advance to closed stage of qualifier


Closed - Nov. 12

  • Total of 16 participants - 8 invited, 8 qualified
  • Matches commence at 12:00 CET
  • Victor of grand final secures placement at LAN finals

North American Qualifier

Open
- Nov. 11

  • Maximum of 512 participating teams
  • Team check-in starts at 15:00 CT, matches commence 16:00 CT
  • Top eight teams advance to closed stage of qualifier

Closed - Nov. 12

  • Total of 16 participants - 8 invited, 8 qualified
  • Matches commence at 13:00 CT
  • Victor of grand final secures placement at LAN finals
