About a month ago Gambit Esports announced that they were "open to transfer negotiations" for Abai "HObbit" Khasenov. While HObbit is still on the team, he's marked as inactive while his transfer is negotiated. This means that Gambit is down one player and not much has officially been heard regarding who will take HObbit's role.

Yesterday a screenshot was posted on Reddit where Russian player/caster/talent Alexey "OverDrive" Birukov writes that Khazak player Dmitry "dimasick" Matvienko is 99% sure to be joining Gambit. dimasick is a fairly new name on the CS:GO scene. He spent the last 15 months as a part of AVANGAR but was marked as inactive back in July.

For Gambit, a change was necessary. The team had a disastrous showing at the FaceIT Major in September, where they couldn't get past the New Challengers Stage after only winning a single map. However, it's unclear if the change had to be a player change. Just weeks after they fell in London, the team managed to get to the playoffs of ESL One: New York after defeating Natus Vincere twice.
